Venue and Equipment

The first two photos are the business end of flying the F2A aircraft. The handle, as shown first, has a thong to attach to the wrist to prevent fly-away if the handle is accidentally released. The sturdy cylindrical crossbar is to fit in the pylon forks as shewn next.

The pylon is free to rotate and can be adjusted to suit the desired height. The handle crossbar fits in the yoke and an observer with binoculars mounted on a tripod is stationed outside the circle to determine whether the handle is correctly seated before timing begins.
