Karlis Plocins and Timofeev appeared on the international scene in1966 with the first of a string of high performance appearances in FAI T/R World Championships.

They were a big help and inspiration to other fliers in the US.

In 1972 Karlis Plocins invited Doc Jackson and Roger Theobald to visit after the world chaps in Finland. Fortified by modern medical science, they rented a car and toured the East, including Karl's native Latvia. Aircraft were traded as was one Barr/Theobald ARM engine for some of the aircraft shown in in the photos below. Perhaps some day Karl will let us know the Eastern side of this story.

Plocins in English sounds like and is sometimes spelled "Plotsin". In slavic languages written in Latin script the letter c without a diacritical mark has the ts sound, otherwise the soft or hard ch sound.
