ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL EN INGLÉS Entrevista via e-mail a Sixtoo, mc, dj y productor, componente de Sebutones que acaba de publicar en solitario el LP "Antagonist Survival Kit" |
Hi man, could you introduce yourself? Sixtoo. Former bling bling art rapper. Beat Creator. 1200 Hobo. Just now you´re involved in a lot of projects, including a new Lp called "Antagonist Survival Kit". What can you tell us about it? What can we expect? Antagonist Survival Kit is a collection of songs that I wrote after moving to Montreal, just over a year ago. Its all pretty dark and sparse, 6 vocal tracks with a 20-minute instrumental piece and some interludy things. I put in work on it, and I think it shows. You´re from Halifax in Canada. In the past few years a lot of people is coming from your country with a lot of good music. What do you think about that?
You colaborated with some of these canadian artists. Who do you think is the most talented? For beats, I could say a few people that I have worked with over the years. Joe Run, DJ Moves [low pressure] , DJ Gordski [the goods] McEnroe [p&c]. For lyrics? Pip Skid, Buck65, Taichichi Kunga219, all the hot kids that are now getting thier proppers. Buck 65 and you are the Sebutones. How did you meet him? I broke into his car at a college radio station in 1990. He had lots of dope tapes in his car, so I tracked him down trying to rob him for his record collection. Anything new from the Sebutones in 2003? Quite possible. The last Sebutones project also included Stigg of The Dump, who I just finished a full-length instrumental project with. Which
is your best project til date? Antagonist Survival Kit, Glass Music 7", Vadim/Slug remix, or maybe Duration project, depends on the day of the week. Some of your last projects are instrumental albums. Some people think (not in my opinion) that your flow is quite monotonous and that you should quit rhyming and spend your time only making beats. What do you think about that? How do you do feel more comfortable, rhyming or producing? I honestly feel like a better producer than rapper, but for those that knock my flow...fuck 'em! youknow? Like seriously, I'm not focusing on beats to make anyone except myself happy. If they don't like it, they should just go buy something else, or make thier own music that they like better. [I sound a little defensive, but Im not, in all honesty I couldn't give a shit out what people think of my rap...!] You also are part of 1200 hobos. Could you tell us something about this collective? Dibbs will kick your ass right off your skeleton, and then go hang at the shooting range all afternoon. DJ Signify jacked my Bonnie Dobson loop.
I have been to the UK once. I will also be over there again soon. I would love to come to Spain, and I´m down to travel. I have a booking agent that is very easy to get ahold of! What do you think about people downloading music from the Internet. Do you think is a good way to get publicity (especially with underground hip hop) or is no good anyway? I think that downloading music is fine, but if you like the music you download, and want to hear more of it, eventually you might have to buy it, or the music you like will not continue to get made (in some cases anyway). I download music, but I laso try to create something tangible that will make people want to own my music. Thank you. Do you wanna say anything more? America Needs To Kill Thier President.
