Author's Note: This is a scene I was fiddling with but just couldn't manage to fit into one of my stories. And I couldn't bear to delete it. They had been driving since the very early morning. Angel was at the wheel with Fred and Gunn packed in next to him. Wesley was in the back seat with Cordelia on Lorne's lap, and Conner in his car seat. He needed a bigger car.
All the way up the freeway, Wesley and Gunn were arguing about their plan of attack when they reached Sunnydale. Their bickering was driving him nuts. Maybe it was time to give up the sporty midlife-crisis wheels and settle down with a nice mini-van?
He pulled the car into the driveway at 1630 Revello Drive, and turned off the engine. "Everybody, out!"
They piled out of the car. Lorne handed the car seat with Conner to Cordelia, and she followed Angel up the steps. Fred and Gunn followed with Wes and Lorne bringing up the rear.
"We're going to wake them," Cordelia nudged Angel.
"Sun's up in less than 30 minutes. Do you have a better idea?" Angel asked.
Cordelia sighed and shook her head as Angel knocked on the door.
A few minutes later, Dawn peeked out through the window and opened the door. "What are you guys doing here?" She yawned at them.
"We can explain inside," Cordelia said, pushing past Dawn.
"Ooh! A baby. Can I hold him?" Dawn reached for the little blue bundle.
The others crowded in through the door as Dawn played with Conner's little fingers. Angel followed them, until his face smashed into an invisible barrier. Stunned for a moment, he paused. His face a mask of confusion, he reached out and tested the doorway again. He couldn't believe he'd been uninvited.
"Dawn, do you mind?" He said, waving at the door.
Dawn glanced at the stairs with concern, and back to Angel. Then she shrugged, "Come in." As he walked by, "Nothing personal, Angel. Last year we uninvited everyone."
He lifted his head. "Where's Buffy? We need to talk to her," Angel said, getting straight to business.
"Um, she's still upstairs." Dawn said. Angel could here the shower running. "I'm sure she'll be down in a few minutes."
Angel nodded and ran his hand through his hair. He paced around the living room as the others sat down and waited. Dawn sat on the arm of the couch, next to the Cordelia and was making silly faces at Conner.
"Oi, Snack Size!!!" A voice boomed from upstairs. "Where the bloody hell did you put my shampoo?"
Wesley, Cordelia, and Angel jumped at the sound of the voice.
"Ooops!" Dawn exclaimed.
"What the hell!" Angel turned and dashed toward the stairs, pulling a stake out of his pocket.
The others looked at Dawn expectantly. "Uh," she shrugged. "He hates it when I use his stuff. Wait till he finds out I used his razor on my legs again," she snickered.
Suddenly they heard the sound of an altercation and shouting from upstairs. There was a loud crash, followed by a thud, and several small thumps, as Angel rolled down the stairs.
Buffy walked down the stairs wearing a bathrobe and adjusting the towel on her head, the skin of her legs peeking out of the robe as she walked. She stepped around Angel, giving him a scowl. He looked so disoriented that she had to laugh. Relenting, she reached down and gave him a hand up. "Next time, call first!"
