Summary : Challenge from Stephanie Honey. What happened between Buffy and Spike just before we see them play cards ?
Spike found her in the kitchen. "Monopoly’s over ?" he asked. "Yes. I won." Spike smirked. "You mean that wanker let you win." She shrugged. "Maybe. You’re not playing poker anymore ?" "No. The witch can’t help but make bloody comments about my cramps." Buffy smiled. "That’s for giving lame excuses." She put some potato chips in a bowl. Spike took a can of bier, opened it and drank. From the corner of her eyes, Buffy looked at him. His face was a mess. And she was responsible for it. And still, since he had arrived, he hadn’t mention anything. Like nothing had happened. But it had. And Buffy couldn’t remember the last time she had feel so remorseful. She took a deep breath. "Spike..." "Yes, Luv ?" "I’m sorry. For the way I beat you up the other day. I had no right to do that." Spike was so surprised, he stayed silent for a minute. "I was just trying to help you" he finally said in a neutral voice. "I know. I was scared, and...the things I told you...it was really mean." "Is this Apology day, Slayer ?" he said with an ironic smile, not showing he was glad about her doing so. She gave him an irritated look. "No. And I’m done." He made an outraged face. "What ? You mean that’s all ? No make-up kiss ?" Oh, she was dying to kiss him. If Tara hadn’t interrupted them earlier...she couldn’t stop thinking about what would have happen. She made a fake sigh. "Come here." He approached her slowly, in that predatory way she liked so much. To her great annoyance, her heart started to gallop. Putting one hand behind his neck, she moved her mouth towards his face...and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. He looked at her with incredulous eyes. "You’re kidding me, right ?" "Well, you didn’t specify what kind of kiss you wanted." She looked rather happy with herself. Did she really think he would let her going away with this ? A devilish grin spread on his sensual mouth. "Of course...my mistake. This means I have to teach you what a bloody proper kiss is." He took her back in his arms and gave her a devastating kiss, entwining his tongue with hers, pressing her body against his, and she could feel his ‘cramp’ was still very much alive... He let her go suddenly. She had to grab the kitchen island to keep her steady. "Now, that’s what I call a make-up kiss" he said in a soft voice. "And I accept your apologies" he added with a condescending tone. Ok. When he was such a jerk, it was really easy to remember how wrong it was to lov...to be attracted to him. "Right. Let’s go back to the living room. The others will wonder what happened to us." "I think Tara have a bloody good idea about this. So, what do you want to do ? Wanna try poker with me ?" "I don’t know how to play this." "Of course you know. Remember that strip-poker we.." "Spike !" "It’s ok. You don’t have to undress this time. But the rules are the same." She sighed. A true sigh, this time. "Go ahead. I’ll join you in a few minutes." He left the kitchen. She put her arms on the island and her head between them. I just kissed Spike in my kitchen, she thought. No ! He kissed me. And now I’m going to play cards with him. This is my birthday. Crazy stuff always happen on my birthdays...I suppose playing cards with Spike is this year’s curse. After all, it could have been much worse.
