• Immigration: to Canada, 1883 May 13, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. 267 Travelled to Canada on the second voyage of the SS Oregon 1882 of the Dominion Line. The ship left Liverpool on May 3rd 1883 and arrived in Quebec City on May 13, 1883, stopping in Belfast on May the 4th. The Ship's master was H.C. Williams.
The OREGON was built by C.Connell & Co, Glasgow in 1882 for the Dominion Line </ships/lines/dominion.html> of Liverpool. She was a 3,672 gross ton ship, length 360.7ft x beam 40.3ft, one funnel, four masts, iron construction, single screw and a speed of 12 knots. There was accommodation for 80-cabin, 60-intermediate and 1,200-3rd class passengers. Launched on 23/12/1882, she sailed from Liverpool on her maiden voyage to Halifax and Portland on 15/3/1883. On 3/5/1883 she commenced her first voyage from Liverpool to Quebec and Montreal. Later, her masts were reduced to two and on 19/6/1895 commenced her last Liverpool - Quebec - Montreal voyage. In 1896 she was sold to Furness Line </ships/lines/furness.html> and immediately chartered to Hamburg America Line </ships/lines/hamburg.html>. She commenced a single round voyage on 18/7/1896 from Hamburg to Montreal and on 15/9/1896 tramsferred to the Hamburg - New York service. On 10/10/1896 she commenced sailing for Furness Line between New York, Naples, Genoa and Leghorn, for 4 round voyages, the last starting 8/7/1897. In Sept.1897 she was scrapped at Genoa.
