Venue: Skydome, Toronto

Herman (Windsor) defeated Catholic Central

Semi-finals

Catholic Central (London) 22, Northern (Sarnia) 7

Herman (Windsor) 49, St. James (Guelph) 6

Notes: St. David (Waterloo) captured the Kitchener-Waterloo league however they opted not to play Guelph St. James for the CWOSSA championship as they opted out of the contest the day before the game was to be played.  Due to a contract situation, all public schools in Guelph did not field teams.  This meant that St. James was the only school from Guelph to compete.  They were invited to compete within the London Catholic league.

Jim Parker provided the following report in the December 2nd edition of the Windsor Star:

The Herman Green Griffins have given many in the province a whole new appreciation of Essex County high school football.

The Green Griffins romped to the OFSAA-sanctioned Western Bowl championship Friday with a 26-0 win over London Catholic Central at SkyDome in Toronto.

The win reinforced the Green Griffins' reputation as the No. 1 team in the province given to them by Ron Dias of All-Canada Gridiron.

"We made Essex County proud," Green Griffins head coach Harry Lumley said. "I've never had so many people come up to me after the game and tell me this is the best team they've seen."

Safety J.D. Duguay had a pair of interceptions and Herman also had a fumble recovery in taking a 17-0 lead.

"They were a very physical team, but we capitalized on the chances we got," Herman quarterback Danny Lumley said.

The Green Griffins used the ground game in a win over Guelph St. James, but opened the air attack inside on the turf Friday.

The senior QB passed for over 250 yards and two TDs against Catholic Central.

"We passed a lot, but this was a team that was playing right up front," Harry Lumley said. "It was almost like they were telling us to pass and I just did my part."
