1958 Chippewa Jr. would defeat Kirkland Lake 25-0 on Nov. 7th to advance to the finals of the Northern Ontario Secondary School Association playing for the Bill Mansell Memorial Trophy. Their opponent was Sudbury Tech. who defeated St. Mary (Sault Ste. Marie) 25-13 in four overtime periods
After joining the Chippewa football program in 1963, MacDonald coached and officiated NDA football from 1965 to 1970. During that period, he guided Chippewa squads to three NDA titles and a pair of NOSSA championships.
