Publishing is a basic ingredient for industry–like reading, writing and arithmetic are basics for education. Martin Luther discovered this over 500 years ago when he wanted to express his ideas to the people.

Publishing is a multi-billion dollar business with many basic level positions and apprenticeship placements where students can work their way up into good salaries and interesting positions. At MGCI we are offering students two different areas to explore that have a Co-op placement component with it. The two areas are Printing and Graphic Design. These areas are offered in the “COMBO PACK”.

The COMBO PACK is designed to give students the opportunity to receive the best of two worlds. This will allow students to honestly judge their abilities and test out their dreams and fantasies in real time situations.

GRAPHIC ARTS COURSE
Students will be examining the many different careers in printing. They will also be designing, creating artwork and running a small offset press. Students will not only be creating samples for interviews, but will be obtaining on-the-job experience at the school. Mr. Seenath, who has over thirty years of experience working in the printing industry will be teaching this course.

This is the Publishing and Yearbook Course which teaches layout and design in applied art style. Students will obtain an understanding for ad agencies & design studios. Priority is given to developing an industrial portfolio. Mr. Welch, who has over twenty-five years of experience working as a graphic designer in design studios & ad agencies will be teaching this course.

It is important for students to get a proper understanding of the career area they are interested in pursuing, before spending large amounts of time and money at a College or Private training institutions. MGCI has the resources and teachers both in Co-op and Tech which can truly help students prepare for their future.

Students who enter a workplace position with the skills and understanding can better evaluate their performance and abilities. More important, they are experiencing reality which can’t be experienced in the classroom.

In these courses the students will be getting a solid grounding in the do's and don't for designing and printing. They will develop an understanding of the best way to complete the job quickly, effortlessly and efficiently. Digital Publishing is the new technology so come and get plugged in.
