GORDON H. COOK HAS PASSED AWAY---Was License Inspector for South Oxford From
1876 to 1903--
By the death of Mr. Gordon H. Cook, which occurred at his residence, West
Oxford [township] this morning, Oxford County has lost a prominent and most
highly esteemed resident.
The deceased became widely known as license inspector for South Oxford, an office
which he filled with general satisfaction from 1876 until 1903, when ill health
compelled him to resign.
He received his appointment from the Mowat government upon the recommendation of the late Adam Crooks, at that time member for South Oxford.  Mr. Cook was attentive in the performance of his duties, but a genial and kindly disposition won him friends wherever he went.  He was a successful farmer and for many years was connected with the Ingersoll, North and West Oxford Agricultural Society.  He was a man of high intellectual capacity and was always in close touch with the affairs of the township and county, having filled the offices of councillor, reeve and warden.
The funeral will take place from his late residence on Sunday afternoon and proceed to the Methodist cemetery, Woodstock. Service at the house at 1:30
