GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Brown, Stanley street, celebrated their golden wedding
on July 1.
The only remaining children - four in number - of Rev. Brinton Paine Brown,
who settled on the back street in the township of Southwold in 1824, of
whom Walter H. Brown was one, were present, and all are over 70 years of
age.
The average of those that sat down for lunch at one table (one young widow
excepted) was 74 years.
There were nine at this table whose united ages totalled 665 years.
Of this number Rev. F. Berry who officiated at the wedding 50 years ago, and
his wife, led, their united ages being 164.
There was in the dining room, and still faithful in keeping time, an
English clock at least 200 years old, which had been the property of Mrs. W.
H. Brown's grandfather.
