First World War German Prisoners --> FORT DOUGLAS WW 1 Prison Barracks.This list is a compilation from muster rolls of the prison, the files of the Justice Department, and the files of the prison. 786 German and Austro-Hungarian men were housed at Fort Douglas from June 20, 1917 to April 20, 1920. Occupations are given as the prisoner provided them upon internment.

"FORT DOUGLAS PRISONERS OF WAR" This list is a compilation from muster rolls of the prison. 406 German Naval prisoners of war from the SMS Geier, the merchant ship Lockson and the SMS Cormoran were held at Fort Douglas. The prisoner's station in the German Navy is provided. 403 Naval prisoners were transferred to War Prison Barracks One (Fort McPherson GA) on March 21, 1918. One prisoner died and two remained in the hospital at the time of the transfer.

World War I Records of the Selective Service System ~ What was the Selective Service System? Under the direction of the Office of the Provost Marshal General, authorized by an act of May 18, 1917, to register and induct men into military service.
