At St. John's: | Southern Shore Marriage Records: February 22, 1830 - Edmund Keily - Ballymanan, Waterford m. Catherine Smyth - Ferland. Witnesses: Edmund Norris & Eliza Baldwin. |
At Caplin Bay: | Voter's List for Caplin Bay: 1840, 1842 - John Keilly |
Family History: | Nothing is known of this surname other than the fact there are a few unconnected entries, with different spellings of the surname, in some of the earlier records of Ferryland District. The name disappeared from Caplin Bay after 1842 and although it surfaced again in Fermeuse/Renews parish in the 1870s, there is no reason to believe that they were connected with the Caplin Bay Kielleys. It is not known how long this surname was at Caplin Bay prior to 1840 or if there were any females in this family that could have married into other Caplin Bay families. |
