| Family History: | There is very little known of this family and very few records are found of the Howley surname in the Caplin Bay area. The name disappears from the area after 1842, except for the marriage record at St. John's in 1854, however there is no indication that this family was still living in the area at that time. In the case of the St. John's marriage record, the spelling of the surname may be an error. There are a few instances where Howlett has been transcribed as Howley. The Howley surname did not survive in Caplin Bay. It is not found in any later documents in the Ferryland area nor is it known if there were any females in this family that could have married into other Caplin Bay families. |
