Family History: Thomas Hayden was one of the latecomers from Ireland to Newfoundland. He settled at Caplin Bay, in the Deep Cove area, on the south side of the bay. Thomas Hayden's wife's maiden name is not known at this time. However, his land was never recorded under a Crown Land grant in the Hayden name, so it is possible the property may have been inherited from his wife's family.
Present Status: There is only one family with the Hayden surname at Calvert today.
