In a wild game that saw six different pitchers, WC Electric prevailed to beat the Ottawa Blitz 15-5 in six innings to take the GOFL quarterfinal series 2 games to none. 

 

Brad Porter had the win, allowing four earned runs over 4 1/3 on seven hits with two strikeouts.  Bud Hanlon finished the fifth inning and allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out two.  Steve Cavanagh threw the final inning, walking one and allowing no hits.

 

Shannon Borho took the loss for the Blitz, allowing six runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out two over 1 1/3.  Derrick Bulley threw in relief for 4 1/3, allowing 9 runs (5 earned) on eleven hits.  Jim Blakely threw to one batter to get the final out in the sixth.

 

Michael Cavanagh scored in the first for WC Electric on a Troy Wilson sacrifice fly.  WC Electric scored five more in the second on four doubles and a single as Steve Johnson, Steve Cavanagh, Jon Daley and Wilson collected RBIs.

 

The Blitz responded with a run in the fourth on a Scott Dumouchel double which scored Shannon Borho to make it a 6-1 game.  The home side made things very interesting by scoring four in the fifth to make it a one run game.  Ron Hrycak had a two RBI single, Shannon Borho had an RBI single and Marty Soucy also had an RBI.

 

After an inspirational speech by Michael Cavanagh, WC Electric exploded for nine runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.  Wilson added another two RBIs, Todd Clouthier had an RBI, Jason Armstrong had two RBIs, and Jon Daley had 2RBIs. 

 

With the win, WC Electric advances to play in a best of five semi final series against Stittsville 56ers – game times TBD.
