Ottawa Blitz earned their first league point in a 1-1 tie
with WC Electric Wednesday night in Manotick.
Jamie Blakely pitch very well for the Blitz allowing only one earned run on
four hits and four walks, striking out six.
Mark Wright got the start for WC, allowing one unearned run on three hits,
striking out four over five innings. Bud Hanlon finished with three hits and
five strikeouts over two innings.
Blitz scored their run in the third. Kevin O'Neil singled. John Hayden laid
down a sac bunt and reached first on an overthrow. With runners on second and
third with one out, Shannon Borho hit a sac fly to right to cash O'Neil.
Fitzroy scored in the fifth when Trevor Barton reached on a two out walk, went
to second on a wild pitch and was brought in on a Troy Wilson RBI single.
WC thought they had taken the lead in the top of the 7th when Jon Daley
attempted to score from third on a wild pitch but was called out at home.
