On a beautiful night at beautiful
Alexander Grove, the Stittsville 56ers blanked the Ottawa Blitz 3-0, to move
into a tie for second place in the GOFL standings. Dan Bradley pitched the win
for the 56ers, yielding only one hit on route to the victory.
Jamie Blakely pitched well in a
losing effort, surrendering three earned runs on only 6 hits.
The damage came in the second inning on the strength of homerun
off the bat of Stittsville first baseman Scott Parsons, which also plated
Darren Featherstone who had singled to lead off the inning. Stittsville scored
again in the 4th, when once again Featherstone singled, advanced to
second on a sacrafice bunt, and scored on a Dan Preston single. Featherstone
