On a beautiful night for Fastball at the Alexander Grove, Dan Konkle fanned 16 and gave up only 1 hit in earning the victory over the home town 56ers. Darren Featherstone took the loss despite only giving up 4 hits.

The 56ers opened the scoring in the bottom half of the first. Trent MacDonald worked a lead off walk and stole second base. Easton hurler, Dan Konkle responded by striking out the next two Stittsville batters, but a single off the bat of Sam Oliver pushed the run across. The 56ers wouldn’t be able to muster any offence for the remainder of the game.

Team Easton tied the game in the top of the second. A pair of walks to Easton’s Cory Morrison and Pat O’Connor, followed by a pair of one out singles by Al Reid and Scott Marion and the game was tied.  Featherstone was able to work out of the bases loaded, one out jam on the strength of a key strikeout and a ground ball for the third out.

Easton took the lead in the top of the third as Randy Peck reached on error, was sacrificed to second by Morrison, and driven in when Konkle doubled to Centerfield. Morrison then homered in the 5th to cap the Easton scoring.

Featherstone was relieved in the 6th inning by Dan Bradley who pitched strong in relief, striking out 4 of the 6 batters he faced.
