Lyle Schell was Mr. Everything for the Manotick Lomor Printers in a 2 – 1 victory over the visiting Stittsville 56ers. Schell pitched a clean 5 hitter, and was the spark the printers needed at the dish driving in the first run of the ball game in the bottom of the 5th inning. Trevor Power started the attack with a solid single into right field. After two unsuccessful bunt attempts, Schell redeemed himself by ripping a double over the head of the Stittsville left fielder, scoring Power all the way from first. Stittsville pitcher Dan Bradley struck out the next two Manotick hitters but then Manotick lead off man, Joe Allan, singled up the middle to score Schell.

The 56ers responded in the top of the sixth. Dan Jessiman led off with a sharply hit double to the right centerfield gap. Schell retired the next two Stittsville hitters, but Scott Jessiman hammered a line drive off the left centerfield wall for an RBI triple. With the tying run on third, Schell seemed to bear down to induce an inning ending ground ball from the next Stittsville hitter. That would be the theme of the evening, as the 56ers had runners in scoring position in 4 of the first 5 innings but failed to produce a run. Stittsville pitcher Dan Bradley put forth another solid effort, including striking out the first 6 batters he faced. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be rewarded for his efforts due to lack of run support.

Next up for the 56ers is a rematch with the Ottawa Blitz in Manotick on Wednesday, May 31. The Manotick Lomor printers travel to Fitzroy Harbour this Friday (May 26th) to face the West Carleton Electric.
