Fastball Season Begins for West Carleton Electric

FITZROY HARBOUR, ON       The Fitzroy Harbour West Carleton Electric Intermediate Men's Fastball club is back for another season in 2005.  The Electric will be playing this year in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League and will play home games at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre.  The team will also be participating in provincial play and several other tournaments throughout year.  The Electric are made up of players from West Carleton and Arnprior area with a few from the west end of Ottawa.  All players from the 2004 team are returning to the squad this summer and pitcher Brad Porter from Ottawa has been added to the roster.

The Electric started off their regular season on Wednesday May 11 with a road loss to the Manotick Lomor Printers by a score of 6-4.  Bud Hanlon and Brad Porter shared the pitching duties for the Electric, while Jason Armstrong and Shawn Rebertz provided the offence with home runs.  Troy Wilson also had two hits and a run batted in for the Harbour.  Trevor Lahey was the winning pitcher for Manotick.

For the third straight year, the team will be in action on the long weekend at the annual Kingston Victoria Day tournament where they will be competing against nine other teams from across eastern Ontario and northern New York.  Last year, the Electric finished 7th of twelve teams at this event.

Next home action for the West Carleton Electric will be a Friday night interleague game against Beachburg, May 27 at 8:00PM at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre.  Admission is free, and the hall will be open for refreshments during and after the game.

The team is pleased to announce returning local sponsors this summer, including Vance's Service Centre from Carp, Ontario Power Generation and Ward 5 Councillor Eli-El Chantiry.
