Lorraine Bruce-Allen was first attracted to Celtic decorative art by the precise, intricate patterns of the Illuminated Manuscripts of Ireland and Scotland, 6th - 9th centuries AD. For her watercolour paintings and illuminations, which often incorporate 23k gold in the manner of ancient scribes, she often draws from the vast symbolism of ancient Celtic myths and beliefs to explore her own contemporary Celtic reverence for nature.
