Freckles the Green-cheeked Conure
of eastern Boliva. They are about 26cm ( 10 ins) in
length. Little Freckles weights 71 grams with empty
crop. Not sure what she weights after she pigs out
on her dinner.
Little Freckles was hatched in Ontario in Jan. 1999.
Freckles came to live with us Feb. 27, 1999. She is a
hand raised conure and DNA tested female. Freckles
is a very good little girl, quiet most of the time. She
has the spunk of a lion. Green-cheeked Conures tend
to like birds much bigger then themselves. Maybe that
is why they have the spunk of a lion.
Freckles loves to have her head rubbed and underneath
her wings. She will try to bite me if I don't rub the right
spot. Her wings are not clipped but she does spook easy.
I have to be carefull when she is outside of her cage. She
is a fearless little bird but sudden sounds spooks her.
Freckles has a lot of toys in her cage but she don't play
much with her toys. She does guard them. Her great
love is pinenuts, she really loves those nuts.
