Answers

1) Talents?
D (A and B). I have been singing and playing guitar for well over 20 years. I cannot dance worth a hill of beans unless it is for a comic role.

2) How many homes?
B (as Noah said to the rabbits, "ONLY TWO!"). I moved from home to Cote des Neiges in Montreal from 1985-97 and then to my current apartment in 1997. That's it! I tend to take root!

3) Urgent message?
B (phone me). I don't really have a fax as such. Deduct 1 point for D. I prefer phone to email, but I certainly do communicate via email, so 2 points for C. You are probably too far away for E (and that would be a silly thing to do anyway); no points there. And deduct 5 points for A! ANYONE who knows me knows I stay up late and HATE getting up early!!!

4) I have been married...?
E (Never). The argument could be made that I have been engaged, if unofficially, but I have yet to walk down the aisle or engage in matrimony. Looks like someone will have to get me pregnant first!

5) My computer?
E (Pentium IV 2.4G). My latest upgrade was late 2004 or early in 2005. As of late 2005, almost every component is less than 2 years old. I even have a new LCD monitor which I adore and absolutely recommend!

6) Emails?
E (so many I lost count). Although I basically use just one, I have at least five, and possibly more. I tell you, I am VERY easy to reach, electronically or otherwise!

7) Family?
D (4). My brother, Sam, and my sister Susan, are happily married, with two kids and a dog each (Sam has two cats, Susan has a second dog), but that part is now irrelevant. My father David is still alive and well and living near my sister in Montreal (Sam lives in the city formerly known as Nepean), so that totals four. NO points for any other answer, no matter what your explanation. All it shows me is that you cannot read.

8) Videotapes?
C (20-35). In terms of actual movies and TV shows I have taped and bought, outside of Trek, the total is, as of  April 2006, less than 30 videotapes. (Not including movies I have yet to watch on video or DVD, which number another 100 or so. With pay TV, I tape a LOT of shows!) Surprised? I was, too! (I only keep about 1% of the shows I watch or tape. And, of course, once I buy or "own" them, since I can watch them ANY time, I never see them again!)

9) Operating system....?
C (Windows XP). Few of you may know this, since I installed XP shortly after it came on the market, and I am not known to be a "cutting-edge" kind of guy. But there it is. Lou Israel, cybergeek. Who'd have guessed?

10) I have played....?
E (all of the above). Milt Fields was my character in the Neil Simon play I did in September 2000 on stage; Aubrey was a character from 1995's Tons Of Money in Montreal; Wayne Montana is from the film I Won't Dance (1992), which I heard is available on video, though I have never seen it. And my video stores tell me it was never released. (If you do spot it, please let me know. A reward may be offered, since my name is rumoured to be on the cover.) The characters in choice B are some of those I have played on YTV's System Crash. (At one point in 2000, I was on TV SIX TIMES in just over a month!!!) And I portrayed Aristotle at the Quebec Drama Festival, oh, about 150 years ago.

11) How often do I shave?
C (about once a week); (3 points for D). My facial hair simply does not grow that fast. For which I am grateful. Those disposable plastic razors? They last me an average of 3-4 months! EACH!!!

12) I have technology...?
E (all of the above). I have recently acquired a printer which appears to be defeating the purpose of a paperless, computer-driven home. I used to think I could not justify the cost of a cell phone, since my pager serves that purpose of alerting me, but in November 2003, I succumbed and bought one; I have had a scanner since 2001; a CD PLAYER since about 1994, and in 2004 I added a CD-RW. I also bought into the DVD craze, kicking and screaming, so a DVD player is now in my living room, and in November 2005 I bought a fantastic DVD recorder which has usurped most need for VCRs. I highly recommend it (no more tapes to buy, easy editing, and you can watch while recording). I am kicking myself for not buying one sooner! Give yourself a point for A, B, or C.

13) My previous vehicle?
A (Accord). I drove it from 1995-1997. And THAT was my first car.

14) You're enemy if you are...?
A. Although I am a serious omnivore, I have dated and been friends with vegetarians before. (I just don't take them to steakhouses.) So choice B is not correct. I am the Champ of Cheap, and I admire anyone who finds a less expensive way to do things, so deduct three points for C. And since I was not even on the Internet four years ago,  I am quite sympathetic to someone who owns neither a cell phone, DVD player, or even a computer! But I am VERY liberal and have a lot of enmity for someone who is openly hostile to my core beliefs.

15) I moved to Toronto in....?
C (1997). My best friend Elliot moved here in '85; another friend in '95, and I finally moved in June of '97. I have been told many others have moved since then, but I don't know most of them.

16) Animals?
D (dog and cat). I had several dogs going back to the age of 15 when I lived with my family, and a cat when I lived with a girlfriend. I may have had fish for a short period, but do not recall that, so it does not count. If you guessed E, give yourself 3 points anyway.

17) How many recording devices?
C (3). In 2005, two of my older VCRs (both over 7 years old) finally gave up the ghost and went to Silicon Heaven. As of spring 2006, all I have left are my Hitachi from 1999, my JVC DVD/VCR combo from 2004, and my new Panasonic DVD recorder.

18) Operations?
E (all of the above). Although not a "nose job" as such, I did have a deviated septum fixed around 1981, my back surgery was in 1994 and laser surgery in 2000 turned my right eye 20/20 (my left eye is 20/25 or "excellent" vision-wise). In fact, there are even more operations on more parts of my body that only a few close friends know about. Have fun discussing this at parties!

19) On how many shows can I be a guest geek?
E (all of the above). Give yourself 3 points for A and 1 point for the others. I am sure there are other shows that I have memorized but some (Night Court, for example) are simply favourite, brilliant shows of which I am a superfan, but not EXPERT.

20) Favourite teams?
B (Dolphins and Jays). I have followed the Jays on and off since their beginning, and have been a Dol-fan since 1972 (yes, the unbeaten season!), but hate basketball (no points for C), hate Montreal teams other than the Habs (zero points for A), and by deduction, you cannot have chosen D or E. Were these not tough enough questions? Give me time. I will come up with more.

Okay, let's see how you did!

SCORING:

Under 0 points: "Who's Lou Israel?"

0-24 points: You have seen me but haven't talked to me at any great length.

25-49 points: You are an acquaintance who knows nothing substantial about me.

50-74 points: You are a friend who has known me a while. Work on it.

75-99 points: You have known me for years and know almost everything about me. And I have to tell you, it's scaring me a bit. Get a life! (-;

100 points: You are me!

Over 100 points: A score of over 100 points shows you to be an incredible observer of human nature, or at least LOU-man nature! It shows you to be astute in your observations. And it shows you have a keen interest in all things Lou. But mostly, it shows you can't add right, because the score only goes up to 100!
