i ride because riding is a good thing, and because it is a metaphor for good things.
i ride because, while I'm still part of The Problem, i'm a smaller part of the The Problem, and that much more a part of The Solution.
i ride because it's practical exercise as well as the most efficient form of transportation on the planet.
i ride because the long road trips give me time to think about why i ride. sometimes the challenge is very immediate: why do i want to ride up that hill, against the wind?
i ride because it feeds the Cycle of Inspiration: others have inspired me, and i hope in turn i inspire others.
i ride because i don't want to drive, ever again. i want as little as possible to do with vehicles, and the consumerism that goes along with them. i'm not naive, i know it's not a lot, but it's a step — and i'm old enough and wise enough to know you don't get anywhere if you don't take that first step. it may be all that's possible for me right now, and hopefully it opens the door to greater, unimaginable possibilities.... besides, i'm a bad driver, and we're all safer with me on a bike.
i ride because it is my prayer to the planet.
i ride because i feel good, and the more i ride, the better i feel.
