(1) Bring along 3 friends. Assure them that a great time will be had by all.
(2) WHILE you are still not comfortable with your manual transmission skills DO
(3) Visit a car dealership you have not visited yet which sells a car you would like to practice driving stick in.
(4) BS the salesperson into thinking you are serious about buying the car.
(5) Ask to test drive said car. Insist on a manual transmission. Assure the salesperson that you know what you are doing. The salesperson will usually drive the car from the back out to the front of the dealership for you.
(6) Get your friends into the back seat and ask the salesperson to sit in the front.
(7) Depress the clutch, shift into first gear and release the handbrake. Now, simultanteously release the clutch all the way while flooring the gas pedal. Be sure to smile while doing this. Also take note of the reactions of the other occupants of the vehicle. If you are the daredevil type, you may want to repeat this step a few more times (restarting the engine as necessary) before proceeding to step (8).
(8) Now is the time to confess to the salesperson that you don't know a thing about manual transmission, and would like a brief lesson plus a few pointers. No self-respecting salesperson will turn down your request at this point. Make sure you get the most out of your drive.
(9) Thank the salesperson and tell him/her you will call back tomorrow to arrange the details of payment. Leave the dealership. Don't forget about your friends in the back seat.
(10) END WHILE
(11) When the salesperson calls you back in a few days, tell him/her you bought a Honda Civic instead. If the salesperson is from Honda, tell him/her you bought a Civic from another dealership.
