Pulmonary Fibrosis
- A Restrictive Lung Disorder in which normal alveolar
archetecture replaced with fibrous tissue
- fibrous tissue: not very elastic
- ability of lung to expand is impaired and lungs become stiff
common causes:
- pneumonias/infections: can lead to lung scarring
- pneumoconiosis: exposure to certain dusts (e.g. asbestos, silica)
- chronic lung inflammation
- idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
