Paget’s Disease (Osteitis Deformans)

• a condition that replace bones with fibrous tissue & abnormal bone
• causes cardiovascular disease, heart failure
• unknown cause (genetic, slow virus)

Signs and Symptoms:

• over 40 years old
• asymptomatic
• thickening of bone on xray
• pathological fractures, vertebral compression fractures
• kyphotic posture
• skull involvement leads to headache, pressure on cranial nerve
