Nephrotic Syndrome

• (a syndrome is a set of symptoms secondary to several possible diseases)
  • eg. lipoid nephrosis
• reflects non-inflammatory injury
  • glomerular epithelial damage
• marked proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia
  • cells, casts not common
• edema (low oncotic pressure)
• low blood pressure (from hypovolemia)
• lipid in urine
