General Collection InformationThe University of Texas at Dallas History of Aviation Collection contains approximately 2,500,000 items. The department holds over 200 private donated collections. The CAT/Air America ArchiveThe History of Aviation Collection is the offical repository for Civil Air Transport (CAT) and Air America. The archive has considerable material about the operations of both airlines. The collection also includes a memorial commemorating the personnel who gave their lives while serving with CAT and Air America. Doolittle CollectionThe History of Aviation Collection is home to the personal papers of General James H. "Jimmy" Doolittle. Doolittle Collection The Ferko/Williams World War I CollectionWorld War I materials located in the History of Aviation Collection range from squadron lists and combat reports to pictures of pilots and their aircraft. The collection is primarily composed of the collections of A.E. Ferko and George H. Williams, but several other smaller collections are present as well. Rosendahl, who was in charge of the United States Navy's Airship program. It also contains several smaller collections as well. It holds several hundred individual collections ranging from aviation pioneer Ormer Locklear to Braniff International. LTV/Chance Vought played an important part in the development of the aerospace industry in Texas.
