Encountering the sandstorm on the dry riverbed that serves as the winter trail between Kalopani and Jomson. It is here where we were given directions by a porter that was sheltering behind a lean-to. We later saw that it was a large table that he was trying to carry up the trail in 50mph winds. We also met up with a German traveller who decided to hike the 4days back to Pokhara because his flight out of Jomson was cancelled that morning due to high winds, and he didn't want to take a chance to wait for calmer weather that may or may not come. Alan and I were woken up by the continuous drones of airplanes overhead the very next morning.
