  • As different as sky and earth - Straits Times (19 Jul 04)

Even best friends have things they cannot stand about each other.

Taiwanese singer Sky Wu says of Jeff Chang, his best friend in the music industry:"Ah-Zhe is such a dilly-dally. If a meeting is scheduled to start at noon, he can turn up at 1pm when we are all done."
When posed the same question,Chang takes a good 20 seconds before he says: "Xiao Wu can sometimes be too fast for me. As you can see, I like to take my time and i may not give him a quick response when he asks me something".
The two singers, both 37, where here to promote their concert Double Voices In Radio Town on Sept 11.
They also performed at yesterday's National Kidney Foundation Children Medical Fund Charity Show.
In an interview at Sheraton Towers' Lounge last Friday, Chang said: "Xiao-Wu is born to make music. The training and practice all these years just make him more perfect."
Wu, who bagged the Golden Melody award for Best Mandarin Male singer 2 months ago returns the compliment.
"Ah-Zhe is a determine person. Amid other pop genres of music nowadays, he has stuck to his style of love songs," he says.
On what he has been up to in the last 2 years, Chang, dubbed "the prince of love ballads" by the media, says in his signature gentle voice: "Other than performing at concerts in China and Taiwan, I have been saving everything for this year. "
His last release was a compilation album in June 2002, and he has since been working on a new album and a new book about antiques, both of which will be out in September.

  • One for the children - Weekend Today (17 July 04)
Jeff Chang and Sky Wu will perform at the CFM Charity Show.

For buddies Jeff Chang and Sky Wu, holding a concert together is a dream come true.

"The best thing about holding a concert together is that we can share the pressure and stress of performing," Wu,38, said cheerfully.
Having know each other for more than 10 years, the chemistry between the 2 established Taiwanese singers was obvious as they exchanged cheerful banter in Mandarin.
Their Double Voices Radio Town gig is on Sept 11 at the Spore Indoor Stadium.

Chang, 37, but looking nary a day past 30, said:" Solo concerts are always too focused on one person, but with a good friend of a talented singer, I feel that there can be so much more sparks in the music which you can never find in a solo performance."
While they may be good friends, both agreed that they have rather different personalities. This was apparent in the press conference, where Wu, tanned and buff, was apparently the more active one, while Jeff, immaculate in a white jacket, had a milder personality.

"Many people know Jeff by his genteel disposition while I 'm more active and energetic." Wu said. "When people watch the 2 of us performing, there'll will be more question marks and a sense of anticipation of what we will do."
The 2 singers will be performing in the NKF Children's Medical Fund Charity Show this Sunday.
