I am beginning to wonder if I missed it
If he came like a thief in the night just like he said
And we all slept right through it
Unknowingly passing from the living to the dead
He probably landed in the jungles of Zaire
Scooping up some remote and faithful tribe
While we waited in blessed assurance
Just like the Pharisees and Scribes
Perhaps he didn't come in two thousand one
Because he already came in the year three twelve
And all the while we've hoped for pearly gates
We've been sitting here in Hell

I wouldn't be surprised based on our current state
What is Hell anyway? If not greed, and war, and hate
