Invitation
I hear your voice across the water
A distant but palpable boom
A frightening irresistable invitation
That comes just a moment to soon
If I had just one more day to gather
The faith to overcome my fear
Then I could tread the impossible
And at last find you near
But I've seen too many take that step
And slip beneath the waves to almost drown
So I sit here listening and clinging to the wooden rail
Afraid I am less inclined to go forward than down
Ask me again, Lord Jesus, to walk upon the sea
I am almost ready to shift my trust, from this wooden ship to Thee.
