Egypt was a rich suplement of some minerals and made great use of
granite, calcite, limestone, sandstone, gold, lead and precious stones as amethyst, jasper, turquoise and cristal. Commerce with Syria, Arabia, Ethiopia, Asia and Nubia provided Egypt with slaves, cedar, ivory, ebony, malaquite, galena, silver, obsidian, copper, gold, iron, horses, leopard skins, cattle, spices like cinnamon and much more. There was no monetary system, valuable items were exchanged. Merchants gave the items a value instead of a price. Example: If a hare has a value of five dollars and a box of lettuce only one dollar, then these valuables could be exchanged. The hare's owner would get five lettuce boxes.
