In our society today, the widely growing problem of suicide is hidden
because of the belief that it is morally wrong. The public is afraid to
address this issue because it may have the wrong influence on teens and
adults alike. This program is not here to glorify suicide, in fact it
is here to prevent it. "Canada has the third-highest suicide rate in
the industrialized world for the 15-24 age group" - The Globe and
Mail. It is now the time to pull together as a community and prevent
suicide. We must not be afraid any longer to speak the truth. Only the
truth can save lives. We will use understanding, and a willingness to
lend an ear and a shoulder to cry on or whatever it takes to let those
that need help attain it. It doesn't take just one person to save
lives, it takes the world as a whole, and the help and healing will
begin now.
As a program we are here to reach out to those who are hiding in the
shadows of their severe stress and pain in life. We are also here to
educate, so that people will become aware that this program is
available. We are dedicated in bringing solutions to this
international problem. Our program consists of hard working teens, and
adult advisories. The more volunteers, either teens or adults will
create a stronger program in Ontario, because there is strength in
numbers.
Any person in this world has the potential to become suicidal, and now
is the right time to begin to lend a hand in providing the hope and help
that we are all in a need for.
