About the Costume

I absolutly love Paprika and this costume! I actually joked to a friend after seeing the movie about how many Paprikas we were going to see at NDK. Then I decided to make the costume. Well I did need a nice, cool, yet movable costume for running around at the costume contest, and this one popped into my mind. It was really easy to pull off. I got a cheap wig at Reinke Bros. and I cut it and used some wax in it for styling purposes. I found some really cheap red knit fabric for the shirt the jeans were purchased and cut off to the capri style. And I bought the belt which is probably the most inaccurate part of the costume, if you can figure it out kudos to you. The shoes were actually a really good find. I was looking for red converse at first, luckly I didn't find any because I later realized that her shoes are a bit different. They have a white toe that extends to the tounge of the shoe and they also have a white back. I eventually found white shoes that were put together perfectly to seperate out white and red colors. I bought red fabric paint and painted the appropriate parts of the shoes. This was a very fun costume to wear at first. I wasn't actually wearing socks though, bad me. Because I was running back and forth so much it rubbed the skin off the backs both my ankles and the side on one foot. Quite painful and quite bloody. Lesson learned: Always wear socks!
