...In an Octopus's Garden... 7 Penny Lane
Hard Day's Night!!!

The first of several great movies, Hard Day's Night was a ground breaking film about, well, the Beatles. In this movie (for thoes of you who don't know) the Beatles are basicly getting ready for a show they are doing on live TV. Their antics and "Liverpool" humor makes this movie great.

*Factoids*

  • The words the Beatles was never heard once in the movie.

  • The use of the phrase "clean old man" was a referance to Wilfrid Brambell's (Paul's Grandfather) hit Brittish TV show "Steptoe and Son" (1962) (the basis for the American hit Sanford and Son) in which the catch phrase was "You dirty old man!"

  • Did anyone ever notice how durring the whole movie anytime one of the Beatles went to get something to drink (mostly anything alcoholic) the PTB (Powers That Be... (see Monkees)) kept them from having it??!! But they were allowed to smoke....censorship...a fickle thing.

  • Durring the scene where the lads were "horsing" around in the field, John was not in attendance. Due to another engagement (promoting his book John Lennon: In His Own Write), a stand in was used and his parts were later edited in.

  • In the train scenes, guess what!, real fans were used. Gear, huh?
