White Mage | Black Mage | Time Mage | Summoner | Blue Mage | Red Mage
Trainer | Chemist | Geomancer | Bard | Dancer | Mime | Bare
 | K N I G H T
Location: Wind Shrine Command: Guard Characteristic: Cover Equipment: Short sword, sword, shield, heavy armor | I can't reccomend using knights. It's just a regular fighting job with nothing especially helpful. |
 | M O N K
Location: Wind Shrine Command: Kick Characteristic: Counter, Barefist Equipment: None | Monks are very good. Not only are they good to use as monks, but they are also good to master to build up mime and bare. They have the highest HP in the game, offer the counter ability automatically, and their HP+30% is a big help towards surviving the huge attacks from some of the later enemies. |
 | T H I E F
Location: Wind Shrine Command: Steal Characteristics: Dash, secret, caution Equipment: Short sword | Thieves are very good. Some enemies carry rare items, and others still save you a lot of money. Also, thieves come with several characteristics, including "secret," which is very convenient. |
 | L A N C E R
Location: Lonka Ruins Command: Jump Characteristic: None Equipment: Short sword, spears, shields, heavy armor | Lancers are nothing special. They're better than knights, but, still, for your heavy armor job, you should use a samurai once you can. |
 | N I N J A
Location: Fire Ship Command: Throw Characteristics: First attack, two swords Equipment: Short sword, ninja sword | Ninjas are good. Their speed can't be beat even by a thief, they can do double damage by holding two swords, and their throwing items can do huge damage. If that doesn't spell out a good job, I don't know what does. |
 | S A M U R A I
Location: Lonka Ruins Command: $Toss Characteristic: Sword grab Equipment: Short sword, katana, shield, heavy armor | Samurai are very good. Their stats are basically the same as knights and lancers; however, they automatically have swordgrab and they have good abilities. |
 | B E R S E R K E R
Location: Walse Tower Command: None Characteristic: Berserk Equipment: Short sword, axe, shield, heavy armor | Berserkers are extremely strong and with the knight's 2-handed ability, they are even stronger. But the drawback is huge: they're uncontrollable- all they do is attack. DO NOT master this job, or else your mimes and bares will be uncontrollable!
 | H U N T E R
Location: Crescent Island Command: Aim Characteristic: None Equipment: Short sword, bow | Hunters at first are just an average job- they're strong and have long-range weapons, but that's it. But stay with your hunters until you master the job because "Sshot" is extremely good! |
 | S O R C E R E R
Location: Walse Tower Command: Sword Characteristic: Magiwall Equipment: Short sword, sword, shield | Sorcerers aren't too great. Their sword magic, which you learn with your black magic, is usually pretty stupid, even if there are a few good times to cast them. |
 | W H I T E M A G E
Location: Wind Shrine Command: White Characteristic: None Equipment: Staff | White magic is extremely useful. Always keep everyone leveled up in it, and use it as a second ability for one or two people. But white mages themselves aren't too good, since other magical jobs have higher magic power. When you're using a white mage, equip him/her with the healing staff when possible. |
 | B L A C K M A G E
Location: Wind Shrine Command: Black Characteristic: None Equipment: Rod, short sword | I reccomend mastering black mage or summoner for your magical side. Black magic is usually pretty good if you pay attention to elements. |
 | T L M E M A G E
Location: Walse Tower Command: Time Characteristic: None Equipment: Rod, staff, short sword | Time magic is extremely benificial if you know how to use it right. When you're using time mage, equip the healing staff. |
 | S U M M O N E R
Location: Walse Tower Command: Summon Characteristic: None Equipment: Rod, short sword | Summoners aren't that good until late in the game because their first spells are pretty weak. Then, when you get summons such as hydra, leviathon, bahamut, and phoenix, it'll be really powerful. Just carry a lot of ethers with you! |
 | B L U E M A G E
Location: Wind Shrine Command: Blue Characteristic: Learning Equipment: short sword, sword, rod, shield | Blue mages are pretty stupid. It's too much trouble to teach them a lot of spells. |
 | R E D M A G E
Location: Walse Tower Command: Red Characteristic: None Equipment: Short sword, sword, rod, staff, shield | At first, red mages are very good because they can use both white and black magic at the same time. But at the end of the game they'll become terrible because their magic only goes up to level 3. Just be patient with your red mage, and when s/he learns Redx2, it'll pay off. |
 | T R A I N E R
Location: Fire Ship Command: Catch Characteristic: None Equipment: Whip, short sword | Trainers aren't too good. Catching and freeing monsters is strong, but, it's a hassle to find and catch the enemies first. |
 | C H E M I S T
Location: Lonka Ruins Command: Drink Characteristic: Medicine Equipment: Short sword | "Recvr" and "Rvive" abilities are really good- but after you learn them, switch to a better job since chemists are otherwise pretty bad. |
 | G E O M A N C E R
Location: Fire Ship Command: Earth Characteristics: Findhole, antitrap Equipment: Short sword, bell | The "Earth" ability is pretty good with black mages and summoners who can't fight worth $#%@ or equip the healing staff. And you might as well master the job while you're learning "Earth" because it's so easy. Otherwise geomancers are crummy. |
 | B A R D
Location: Crescent Island Command: Sing Characteristic: None Equipment: Short sword, harp | Bards are stupid. Their songs aren't good enough to bother with and harps are terrible. |
 | D A N C E R
Location: Lonka Ruins Command: Dance Characteristic: None Equipment: Short sword, ribbon | Dancers have the worst HP of all of the jobs. Their dances are OK, but they're random so you might as well not bother. |
| M I M E
Location: Sunken Walse Tower Command: Mime Characteristic: All characteristics of jobs you've mastered Equipment: Short sword, rod, staff, and the armor from jobs you've mastered | Mimes are great! They have the stats, characteristics, and armor of all of the jobs you've mastered. And then they can use mime + 3 other abilities of your choice (fight and item are possibilities) |
 | B A R E
Location: You start bare. Command: None Characteristic: All characteristics of jobs you've mastered Equipment: Everything | The bare job is good at the end of the game. They have the stats and characteristics of all the jobs you've mastered. And they can equip absolutely anything. You can use 2 abilities of your choice. |
