I read the story "Can't Keep Away" and really loved it. This story will be another
adaption of that.The beggining chapters may seem like "Can't Keep Away", but I
promise you, with time it will blossom into it's own story.

The year is 2004. Sonny is back in the mob, he and Jason share the title as
head of the mob. Brenda and Sonny are back together. They have 2
children. Stone and Becky. Jason and Carly lived together untill the year
2000. Michael was 2. Carly loved Jason and Jason was beggining to love
Carly. Jason was finnaly going o admit his feelings to Carly when Robin
showed up. She said she didn't mind him being part of the mob, she just
wanted to be with him. At around the same time, Jax had come up with an
evil plan. He was going to get Carly and Michael. He figured that this would
hurt Jason. In the year 2000 Jax married Carly. In 2001, Robin and Jason
married. After three months of marriage Jax began to treat Carly badly and
beat her. Elizabeth and Lucky are engaged. Emily and Nicholas are seeing
each other. Sarah is in Asia doing charity work. Brenda and Robin are
friends with Carly.

Love Hurts - Chapter 1

Jax and Carly's apartment.

- Carly is bustling around preparing dinner for Jax. Michael has finnaly gone
to bed. Jax enters.

Jax: Carly, I'm home.

Carly- Hi jax. I was just preparing your dinner.

Jax- (kissing her on the cheek and handing her his coat and briefcase)
MMM. Steak and a baked potatoe.

Carly: ( Hanging up his jaket) Ummmm. No Jax. I made meatloaf. I thought
that's what you asked for.

Jax: YOU WHAT????? Wait, did you THINK that was what I asked for?
Or did you just not care????( Carly is baking away while Jax advances on
her.) And look at this place. it's a pigsty!! ( He begins to hit her. He then
pushes her, hard. Almost sending her flying, into a wall. He then leaves.
Carly begins to sob uncontrollably)

Love Hurts - Chapter 2

the next day- Jax and Carly's place

( The place is all straignted out. Carly is dusting)

knock knock

Carly: who is it?

Brenda: It's Bren

Carly: (opens the door) Hi, what are you doing here??

Brenda: Just visiting. What's new?

Carly:Oh, not much. Mikey's at school. ( as she's talking a magazine in her
hand drops. as she bends down to pick it up, the back of her shirt lifts up.
Revealing a huge bruise. Brenda notices, but doesn't say anything.)

Brenda: well, that's nice. How are you feeling?

Carly: fine. How are the kids?

Brenda: good, good. Where's Jax?

CArly: ( At the mention at his name she gets uptight) Work ( she replies
quickly)

(They chat for a while more. Than Brenda leaves)

Scene 2: Sonny's and Brenda's Penthouse ( reffered to as PH)

(Sonny and Jason are sitting on the couch talking, while Stone and Becky
play on the floor. Brenda walks in)

Sonny: hi honey

Brenda: hi guys

Jason: Bren.

Sonny: have a nice visit with Carly? ( At the mention of her name Jason
looks up, very intrested in her reply.)

Brenda: Um..well.(She can't decide what to say)......yes, I mean yes, yeah.

Sonny: Bren, what's wrong?

Jason: ( very concerned) Carly. Is Carly alright? Is it Michael?

Brenda: Oh, I didn't want to say, but I feel like I have to. She has so many
bruises, bad ones, you know? It's not the first time either.I think Jax hurts
her.

Jason: ( very angry) I'm going to kill him. ( he starts for the door)

Sonny: Jason, just calm down. I hate to say it, but I suspected something.
Tommorrow we'll see her. ( Brenda goes upstairs with the kids.) Jason?

Jason: yeah?

Sonny: Do you love her?

Jason: What do you mean?

Sonny: You seemed pretty angry.

Jason: Aren't you?

Sonny: Yes, but you seemed to have other reasons..

Jason: I'm with Robin. I LOVE Robin.

Sonny: Do you? Maybe you think you love Robin, but actually you love
CArly.

Jason: Don't be ridiculose. Call me if you find anything out. Alright?

Sonny: Yeah. Sure ( Jason leaves. Leaving Sonny staring after him what a
sad expression. )
 

   Love Hurts - Chapter 3

Carly and Jax house ( reffered to as C&J house)

( Brenda, Sonny, Stone and Becky stand outside)

Brenda: Ready?

Sonny: Yeah. And don't worry. I'll get to the botom of this.

Carly: Oh. Hi guys, come in.

Sonny: Where's Michael?

Carly: In his room?

Sonny: Kids, why don't you go upstairs to Michaels room and play? ( they
go upstairs.) Carly? hiw are you?

Carly: Oh, I'm fine. Sit down. Would you like something to drink?

Sonny: No. sit down Carly. Let's talk. ( She sits on the couch with Sonny
while Brenda sits in an armchair)

Carly: Unfortunatly, I can't talk long. Jax is going away tonite and theres so
much I have to do.

Sonny: like what?

Carly: Pack, call up and confirm everything, get the laundry, clean up, bye
some things.

Sonny: WOW!! Why doesn't Jax help? ( Sonny is trying to see how she
reacts and everything. Brenda looks on)

Carly: Oh no. You must'nt misunderstand. Jax does everything. He takes
care of us and works so hard

Sonny: Whats that?

Carly: What's what?

Sonny: that bruise. Under your sleave.

Carly: (gets up) This oh nothing, I just..

Sonny: did he hit you?

Carly: What? Jax? no...

Sonny: Carly? It's alright ( He goes to hug her. As he touches her back, she
winces. ) Are you o.k?

Carly: ( trying to hold back the tears, but they roll down her face) yeah, i just
gotta get to work or Jax will be so mad...

Sonny: You'r coming with us.

Carly: No. no. He loves me. He only does it when I deserve it. Noe please. I
have so much work to do. He's leaving for a month so please....(she trails off
crying)

Sonny: alright.

Brenda: (Jumping up) Alright. We can't leave her, he'll hurt her..

Sonny: ( he silences her) I have a plan he whispers. Good bye Carly. ( they
all leave.

Scene 2: PH

( Brenda, Sonny and the kids return to find an anxious Jason)

Jason: How is she? is she alright? What happened?

(Brenda goes upstairs with the kids)

Sonny: she's in bad shape.

Jason: oh no.

Sonny: It gets worse. He makes her do everything, but she loves him or so
she says.

J: huh?

S: she doesn't love him. you can tell. She's just so scared. She trhinks he's a
god and she's a peasent, luck to be under the same roof as him. she even
thinks it's her fault for being hit!!

J: Then why didn't you get her?

S: He's going away for a month. That should be enough uninteruptted time to
get her away from him.

Scene 3: C&J house

Jax: (comes in. looks around) Carly?

Carly: Yeah? ( sounding scared) I'm in the bedroom.

Jax: Where's dinner? Why is the house a mess?

Carly: Well, um. I didn't begin to cook yet.

Jax: What? ( he goes upstairs) Your not done paking yet?

Carly: Amost

Jax: Where's the toothpaste I asked you to buy?

Carly: Oh no. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry

Jax: You stupid incompitant moron!!! You messed up so bad. Can't you do
anything

Carly: I'm sorry..I...I.

Jax: You know what happens now Carly. You were bad, now you get
punished.

Carly:JAX!!! Please no, Im sorry

Jax:You will be ( He hits her, puches her, throws her to the ground. he
throws a vase, right near her head he picks her up, throws her into the
bathroom, she hits her head, blood is pouring, he then hits her some more,
she is now on the ground, barely moving.) I;m leaving. You better straighten
up in a month for when I come back. ( He leaves an unconcious Carly.)

Michael: (Comes out of his room) Mommy? MOMMMY!!!!! ( he runs to
the phone and presses memory 1))

Scene 4: PH

Brenda and Spnny are sleeping, the phone rings

Sonny: Goddaamit!

Brenda: what time is it?

Sonny: midnight!

Brenda:oh god. who would be calling now?

Sonny: HELLOWW!!! Michael? What's wrong. (he listens, getting angry) I'll
be right over. Hold on ( He het's out of bed, and begins to dress.)

Brenda: Michael? OH GOD!!! What is it?

Sonny: It's Carly. I';m going over there. (He leaves an upset Brenda)
 

Love Hurts - Chapter 4

C&J house

Sonny: (knocks down the door:) Carly? Michael?

Michael: Sonny! Up here help!!

Sonny sees Carly, unconsious and bleding. He takes her to the hospital.

Scene 2: GH

( Michae' is sleeping. laying on three of the waiting chairs, with Sonny's coat
laying over him. Brenda is leaning on Sonny. A concerned Jason runs in. with
Robin close behind.)

Jason: What happened? Is she O.K?

Sonny: She's unconsious. We don't know anything else

(Bobbie, Luke, Lucky and Liz rush up)

Bobbie: Oh God, what happened? How is she?

( A.J., Monica, Emily and Nicholas come in)

Emily: We just heared.

A.J.: What happened?

Taggert:( just entering with Garcia) That's what we'd like to know.

Alan: ( coming in) Hello

Bobbie: Alan, my daughter how is she?

Luke: Sweet Caroline, is she alright?

Alan: She sufered some blows to the head. She might have a concussion.
We batched up her head. Luckily she didn't break her skull. She's still
unconcious, but she's going to be alright.

Bobbie: Thank God.

Alan: Although her head was bleeding and banged up pretty bad. That's not
our main concern.

Lucky: What is then?

Alan: she was beat up. There are bruises everywhere. Her face, neck head,
stomach, breast, arms, back, legs, everywhere.

Emily: OH GOD!!

Garia: A mugging.

Alan: I don't think so. She had old bruises. Carly has been getting beaten on
a regular basis, for some time now.

Bobbie: OH NO!!

Nicholas: Who would do such a thing?

Taggert: Yes. Who would? Mr. Corinthos? You were there. Do you have
any answers

Brenda: (burstsout) It was Jax. He hit her.

Garcia. Her husband?

Brenda: Yes. She told us. Michael called us tonite and Sonny rushed over. (
breaking down in sobs)

Michael: ( he wakes up and wanders over to Bobbie) Grandma? Is mommy
o.k.? Bobbie: yes she is sweetie. Are you alright?

Michael: yups.

Taggert: Michael , what hapened?

Michael: Jax hiit her. He said she was bad.

Taggert: Does he hit her a lot?

Michael: Yup. All the time. Opps!! He told me not to tell.

Bobbie: Michael baby, does he hit you?

Michael: Nopes. Never. He once went to, but Mommy yelled at him. That's
when she broke her arm.

Jason: I'll kill him.

Luke: Not if I get to him first.

Sonny: I should have taken her away.

Brenda: She wouldn't listen

Lucky: I don't get it. He always seemed so nice. Carly never said anything.
Jason: Can I see her?

Alan: Yes. She's stabile. But she IS unconcious.

Taggert: Mr. Quartermane will you please call us and let us know when Mrs.
Jaxs wakes up?

Alan: Of course officer.

Bobbie: I'll go in.

Michael: I want to see mommy.

Elizabeth: Mikey, mommy isn't feeling yo well. You'll see her another time.
Brenda: We'll take him for the night.

Taggert: By the way, where is the gently concerned husband?

Michael: He left mommy on the floor bleeding. He said he'd be back in a
month.

( everone exchanges sad and upset glances)

Scene 3: GH - Carlys room

( Bobbie, Luke, Lucky , Liz, Laura and Lu. are in there)

Bobbie: Caroloine, honey? Were here.

Laura: You have a lot of people worried.

Luke: Not me. She's a Spencer!! She'll pull through fine.

Lucky: Hey cuz. It's alright.

( they all leave. Bobbie is crying)

-outside Carlys room.

Bobbie: Did you see that? Her face was all bruised, and her arms.

(Jason walks in)

Jason: How is she?

Luke: She's o.k.

Bobbie: O.K?? How can you say that? She's alll banged up. That bastard.

Jason: Can I see her?

Luke: sure go on in

-inside Carly's room

Jason: Carly? ( he sits next to her and holds her hand) Oh baby. I'm so
sorry. What was I thinking.. I should have never let you marry him. I should
have looked out for you. And look at me. Maybe I would have been able to
protect you, if i wasn't such a jerk. I should have visited you, but no.. i was
to busy with Robin. Is that why you married him? Of course. I always
treated you like second choice. Robin showed up and I completly ignored
you. Oh wait, I did tell you that you had to leave. Oh, what a jerk I am .. (
He begins to cry) You always saifd I was the bestfriend a person could have.
Well I think I proved you completly wrong. I;m so sorry.

( we now see Robin standing in the doorway. looking in on the scene)

- outside of the room

( a crowd has gathered, including the originalgroup plus Brenda, Sonny,
Stone, Becky, Michael, Mike, Nicholas, Emily, Lois, Ned, A.J. keesha,
Justus, Lila and Edward)

( Robin steps out of the room and hugs Brenda and Sonny)

Mike: Any changes?

Luke: nope. She's still unconcious.

Michael: I miss mommy@!! I want to see mommy.

Edward: What are we doing here?

Lila: Oh, hush Edward. Carly is the mother of Michael, our great-grandson.

Edward: not that we ever see him.

A.j.: be quiet grandfather.

Edward: oh and like you'r best friends with Carly?

A.J.: No. But, Michael is my nephew and Carly is very nice, and we may not
be close, but still....

( A huge argument erupts outside)

-inside Carlys room

Carly begins to moan ever so lightly. her eyes flutter open and she see's
Jason.

Carly: Jas ahhh! ( she can't talk, she's in so much pain)

Jason: Oh. Carly. Thank god. Hold on one second.( He runs outside. the
whole crowd quiets down and looks at him)

Jason: Quick, get a doctor.

Bobbie: No!!!!! Oh god no!!

Jason: Yes!! ( he smiles) she's awake!!!
 

Alan is in Carly's room

Alan: Why hello Carly. How are you feeling?

Carly: Huh? Oh. Um not so hot ( she can barely speake. her voice is LOW
and very SLOW!!), UHHH!!

Alan: What ?what is it?

Carly: It hurts. A lot

Alan: Yes, well you were hurt prettybad. Do you remember anything?

Carly:( floods of memories poored into her head. The fear, Jax hitting her.
The last thing she remembereed was hearing Michaelcry and call for her,
than everything turning black. She turned her head away.) Michaelshe
moanes softly

Alan: Oh, he's fine, just fine, he misses you though. He stayed with Brenda
and Sonny.

Carly: (All of a sudden she gets scared) Jax ( she yells in alarm ) is he here?

Alan: Well, um no Carly. He's gone for business we didn't know where to
contact him. If you really want us to then Itell us where he is then we'll
contact him and tell him.....

Carly: No, no, I don't want him to come.

Alan: Well yes, you've have a great many visitors.

Carly: (looks up in surprise) I do>

Alan: Well yes. Your mother, Luke, Luky, Emily, Nicholas, Elizabeth, A.J. ,
Monica, Lois , Ned, Sonny, Robin, Brenda, Jason...and many others.

Carly: ( with the name of Jason looks up. She then begins to think of leaving
Jason, how he never called, he was to busy with Robin. In all honesty she
didn't leave on her own, he told her to. She rembers Jax, how nice he used
to be, and then she rembers the previous nite. She begins to cry. She begins
to feel the pain, both physical and emotional.)

Alan: Carly? Are you alright. ( he waits for a response, but gets none) I'll
leave you alone. ( He exits, leaving a sobbing Carly)

-outside Carly's room

Bobbie: Alan how is she?

Brenda: Is she alright?

Alan: She's awake. Physocally she is getting better. But, she is very upset.
Jason: Does she remember anything?

Alan: Um..wel.....that is VERY hard to say.

Brenda: What do you mean?

Alan: Well, I asked her, if she remembrered anything, and she kinda looked
off . She looked like she was doing some deep thinking, the she turned away
and began to cry.

( Jason turns away and punches the wall, hard. Scaring everyone.)

Bobbie turns into Luke and begins to sob " My baby, my Caroline. Always a
hard life. Nothing ever goes right for her. Always the bad luck.

(Sonny pulls Brenda close)

Michael: Mommy, I WANT TO SEE MOMMY!!!!

Brenda: (kneels down and hugs him) I know you do, big boy, but you better
wait a bit. Mommy's still very sick.

Elizabeth: If you want. I'll take him for a while. ( Brenda nods. Liz kneels
down to Michael) Hey Mikey wanna go for a walk? we can go look at the
babies.

Michael: Alright Liz. ( they walk away, hand in hand )

Sonny: Can we see her?

Alan: Well yes, but remember she is still very hurt, both physically and
emotionaly. ( He wals away) I'll be back to check on her.

Bobbie: Does anyone mind if I go in first and alone? ( No one minds so she
goes in)

Carly honey? ( Carly is laying on her back, but her head is tilted away from
the door and chair that Bobbie goes to sit in. She is no longer crying) Carly.
I'm sorry. I was so worried. When I heared you were brought in to GH
unconsious and with head bleeding,

( tears begin to roll down Carly's face) I , I got so scared. I need to tell you
something. I need to tell you how happy I am that you came to Port Charles
and that I got the chance to see you and be your mother.

( The pain of seeing her daughter like this is to much to bare and Bobbie
feels her eyes filling with tears )I am going to leave now Carly, so everone
else can come in and see that your alright. I'll be right outside. Carly? I know
I don't say it alot, but I uh....I love you. With all my hear and sole. ( With that
Bobbie walks out and falls into Luke sobbing)

- Everone is silent. Watching Bobbie. No one dares go inside yet. Luke
leads Bobbie to a seat . She gets herself together and looks at all the eager
and concerned faces. She is all beaten up. She just lies there. And then she
began to cry.

-Brenda, Sonny, Robin and Jason go in.

-Robin sits in the same chair as Bobbie did, Sonny stands behind her, with
his hands on her shoulders. Robin stands at the foot of the ned, with Jason
next to the door

-Carly has not moved, at the moment she is not crying, but there are tear
marks and tears in her eyes, waiting to spill out.

Brenda: Carly? I'm so glad you're alright. Everyone is.

Sonny: You sure do attract large crowds, but hey you should be used to that

Robin: Carly? I was so worried. How are you? Michael has been asking for
you.

( At the mention of Michael, Carly goes to bite her bottom lip to keep from
crying, but her bottom lip is busted. so when she goes to bite it she winces in
pain. Everyones gives a concerned look. Jason steps foward to get a better
look at her. It is now that she starts to really cry)

Alan: knock knock, Ineed to see Carly alone for a few minutes.

Scene 2:

Outside Carlys room

As the group comes out of Carly's room everone looks at them.

Brenda: same as what Bobbie said. She lies there doesn't look at you and
then began to cry.

Alan: (exiting Carly's room) Well she is in a lot of pain. So I gave her a
sedative. She's going to be a sleep for a few hours then I'm going to have to
do some tests and next Detective Taggert and Garcia will be coming to talk
to her..

Jason innterupts Alan: No they won't

Why yes, I just called them and.

Jason: No, I don't know what room you were in Alan, but Carly is in no
condition to say hello to her friends. There's no way she'll be able to answer
questions.

Alan: Well, I'm sory but the detectives will be coming Jason. Anyway. It will
be at least 5 hours before anyone can see her so, I would say, go home rest
and come back around three.

Bobbie: Alan, I'll be in GH, you page me if theres any change.

Alan: Of course Bobbie.

-everone begins to leave. Soon only Sonny, Brenda, Jason, Robin and
Michael ( who just returned) are left.

Sonny: Well let's go. Latacia is coming at 2:30so we can take the kids to the
park and than leave them with her to come see Carly.

Michael: I want to see Mommmy~!!!!

Brenda: Not today Mikey, maybe tomorrow. Hey Robin, Jason , do you
twoo need a lift?

Robin looks at Jason

Jason: I took my motorcycle, but I have to stay for a bit. Robin why don't
you go.

Robin: Jason, why do you need to stay?

Jason: Well, I feel bad, just leaving her. So I'm gonna stay. I'll see you at
three?

Robin:(giving him a doubtfull look) yeah. alright. bye

Jason: bye.

-they all leave

-Jason goes into the rom. He sits in the chair . He takes Carly's hand and
tears roll down his face. " Baby...oh goCarly. I'm sorry I'm so sorry. Look at
you. So sick and frail and beat up. That bastard will pay.
