New Jersey:

Caroline rose when she saw Emily and Nick exit from that little terminal that
led to the jet. Emily ran to her step-sister and embraced her and Caroline felt
herself give in to the tears that she's been holding onto ever since her nightly
cry last night. When she finnaly pulled away she saw Emily was crying too.
She caught sight of Nikolas doing a crazy handshake with Michael and
complimenting Lilly on her dress. ''Nick. I've missed you.''

''You look good Caroline.'' It was a lie. She had swollen eyes and a sleep
deprived face.

Also she gone from having an INCREDIBLE body to being very skinny.

Caroline gave gim a small smile and said ''You are a really bad liar. In fact,
you suck at it.'' Caroline bit her bottom lip and unsucessfully tried to act
casual as she asked ''So, how's Jason?''

''Miserable.'' Emily replied with a small smile. ''Going crazy. He beat up the
livingroom. No one's talking to him but me and Justus. And trust me, I went
over to yell, but I saw him. He was red eyed, crying, throwing things and I
couldn't help but feel for the guy. He's miserable, just like you.''

''Good. He brought it on himself.'' Caroline said unconvincingly

They said their good-byes and Emily, Nikolas, Michael and Lilly boarded
the plane as Caroline brought her hand up to the window and watched as
they plane rolled away, down the taxi. Slowly she walked to the car and got
in and began driving home, the whole way she chanted to herself. ''I don't
care. I don't care that he's sad. I don't care that he's falling apart. I don't
care.''

She kept on chanting as she walked into her home. She looked around and
said quietly ''I don't care that it's dark, I'm all alone and He's sad, and I want
to hold him and mak it all better. I don't care.'' She walked into her bedroom
and changed into a T-shirt and layed on her bed and said '' I don't, I...I...I
DO care!!!'' She cried as she fell to the floor and sobbed.
 

Sonny , Jason , Michel , and Lilly walked through the park eating ice cream
cones with Renaldo and Johnnie close behind them. They had just reached
they end of the park and had sat down to eat their ice cream as they
watched the cars go by.

''So guys.'' Sonny said feeling really bad for Jason because Michael had been
really cold to him since they arrived. ''How's New Jersey?''

''It's FUN!'' Lilly said happily ''We have a big house and it's so pretty Uncle
Sonny and my new teacher Ms. Lipnicki, said I'm an ARTIST. And Isabella,
that's mommys BEST Friend is SO nice!!!!! ''

''Wow!!'' Sonny said ''How 'bout you Michael? How do you like it?''

''I don't it!'' Michael yelled ''I hate it!! I miss my old room, my friends,
grandma, Jerry, Aunt Brenda, Uncle Jax, I miss EVERBODY!! I miss
everything. And it's all YOUR fault.'' Michael said turning toward to Jason.
''And if you think some stupid ice cream cone can make up for it, you're
WRONG! With that Michael stood and threw his ice cream down and
continued to yell as tears rolled down his face. ''I know what you did dad!
Mom said you two weren't getting along but I heared her talking to Isabella.
You CHEATED on her. That's why we had to go!! I hate you!!''

Michael took off and ran into the street. Jason ran after him but Michael was
too far ahead, getting his speed from rage and anger. Jason saw the car
speeding down the street showed no signs of stoping, and he ran as fast as
he could, with every intention of pushing his son out of the way.

Blood went everywhere as Lilys screams filled the night.
 

Caroline, who had fallen asleep after her good cry, was awoken by the
phone ringing. Sleepily she reached out and picked up the phone. Her face
turned chalk white as she listened and the phone slipped from her fingers and
she screamed ''NO!!''

She jumped up pulled on a pair of jeans grabbed her purse and ran out the
door, into her car and drove to the airport where she boarded a plane bound
for Port Charles.
Ever After - Chapter 8

The waiting room was packed with all the Quatermaines, Spencers, Jacks
and Jason, Sonny, Lilly and Justus, all waiting for word on Michael. Jason
had tried to push Michael out of the way, but he wasn't fast enough. The
driver of the car was drunk and died in the crash. Michael had been
unconscience and blood had been coming from his cuts and his head. Jason
had rode in the ambulence with Michael, while Sonny had followed in the
limo with Lilly and the guards. Sonny had called Caoline from the limo. As
they reached the hospital thunder sounded and it began to pour.

Now Lilly was sitting next to Sonny with her head in his lap. She had
stopped crying once everyone had began to arrive. Jason was nervously
pacing. It had been over an hour since they brought him in and they had
heared nothing.

Suddenly Caroline ran into the waiting room. She was soaked Her hair was
wet and sticking to her face which was tear streaked, her eyes red and
swollen. Her soaking wet jeans and T-shirt were clinging to her bony,
starved body. During the plane ride and cab ride to the hospital, Caroline
had worked herself into a full hysteria. Everyone stood seeing that Caroline
wasn't stabile. Bobbie ran to her daughter and tried to embrace her but
Caroline pushed away from her and her and started screaming "Michael!
Where's Michael. I want to see him right now."

"Caroline." Bobbie said trying to calm her down "You can't see him now.
He's in ICU, he":

"I DON'T care, " Caroline screamed. "He hates hospitals, he...he- he must
be so scared I need to be there for him, He needs me, I..." Caroline stopped
when she saw the doors that led to the ICU and ran to go in, but two strong
arms grabbed her from behind and whispered into her ear. "Caroline, you
can't go in there. You have to let the doctors do their job. He's going to be
fine, I promise."

Caroline pulled herself out of his grip and turned to Jason and began
screaming. "Get your hands off of me!!! This is all your fault. Why weren't
you watching him. How could you let this happen? What were you
DOING?? " Caroline pounding on his chest with all her might. "Why weren't
you WATCHING HIM?" She sreamed as loud as she could, tears pouring
down her face, still hitting him.

Bobbie was crying seeing her daughter like this and Jerry was holding her.
Lilly had crawled into Emilys lap and Liz was stroking her hair. Sonny and
Luke pried Caroline off Jason who just stood there, with swollen red eyes,
taking everything she had to give him, knowing that he deserved it and that
the only way she'd become calm was to unleash all her anger.

Luke held Caroline from behind as she struggled with him. Sonny stood in
front of her and put his hands on her face and said "Caroline, I know you're
upset, but you have to say calm for Michael."

At the mention of Michaels name Carolines legs went limp and Luke couldn't
hold her up as she crumpled to the floor. Sobs racked her body as she
sobbed into the floor and yelled. "No! Not my baby! Not my angel. God no!
Anyone, just not him."

The sight of Caroline sobbing on the floor was too much for Jason. He ran to
her and knelt by her side and tried to hug her. She struggled with him at first,
but soon fell into his arms. He held her tightly as Caroline held on to him for
her dear life, sobing into his strong chest. He soothed her hair and murmured
into her hair. "I'm so sorry, but everything's going to be o.k."

Caroline just continued to sob into his arms as everyone watched the scene
with tears in their own eyes. Slowly Jason leaned over and scooped Caroline
up. He carried her over to a row of waiting chairs and sat down, Caroline
still in his arms sobing. He rubbed her back . "It's going to be alright
Caroline. I promise. Trust me o.k.?"

Jason felt Caroline began to temble in his arms. Holding, her felt that she was
soaked through her clothing. Pushing wet strands out of her face, he looked
at Bobbie and said "She's freeezing."

"Alright." Bobbie said " O.K. Caroline, come on, you can change into some
hospital scrubs" She touched Carolines shoulders and Caroline shuddered
away from her, pulling herself closer to Jason. "No." she said quietly, yet
strongly. "I'm not going anywhere untill I know that my son is O.K.."

Bobbie nodded and turned away and walked over to the crowd that was on
the other side of the the waiting room, where everyone else stood and
watched Caroline and Jason clinging to each other. Jax took off his jacket
and walked over to Caroline and Jason and tried to pull the jacket around
Caroline but she refused to let go of Jason. She couldn't think straight. As
angry as she was at him, she couldn't let go of him. She couldn't think about
that. All she knew was that if she let go of him, she would fall apart. She just
knew that she needed him and that Michael had to be o.k.. Finnaly Jason
pulled the jacket around her and held it over her. Jason nodded to Jax as a
sign of thanks and Jax nodded back as a sign of sympathy and walked back
to the group. In a low whisper he said "I don't want to worry anybody, but
she's very thin."

"I noticed too." Brenda said

"You were right Em." Liz said "You said she looked really skinny at the
airport."

"I just hate this." Bobbie said. "Her world is falling apart."

Just than the doctor came in and Caroline jumped off Jason, the jacket falling
to the floor, and ran to the doctor and asked. "My, son. Michael. How is he?
Is he allright?"

"Yes he's fine." The doctor smiled as the room let out sighs of relief. "We
were fearing much worse things than what has happened. He is awake. we
are keeping him overnight. But if everything goes o.k., than I see no reason
as to why he can't go home tomorrow."

"Can I see him?" Caroline asked

"Yes, right this way" The doctor said leading her away.

Jason went to follow, but Bobbie pulled him back. "Give them somre time."
Jason nodded as Lilly walked up to him and he picked her up "Is Michael
going to be o.k. daddy?"

"Yes baby, he is." He said kissing her forehead.

"Jase, I have a better question for you." Sonny said "Is Caroline going to be
o.k.?"

"Jason, she doesn't look good." Brenda said quietly.
