Aftershock - Chapter 18

by: Sonia

The next day Jason and Carly began working on what they had, except right now Jason had to go out on business. Carly kissed him goodbye and was on cloud nine just knowing they loved each other. They had a family. From here on out it was the Morgans all the way. Marisa, Michael, Jason, and Carly finally bonded for the better.

"Nothing could possibly go wrong now," Carly thought aloud, and then there was a knock. Carly walked to the door and opened it "Well, I guess one thing could go wrong," Carly sarcastically said as she saw Robin standing there.

Johnny looked at Carly, "Do you want me to?" Johnny hinted.

"Nah, Johnny, I can handle her." Carly let Robin in and shut the door. "What do you want, Robin?" Carly was very annoyed at this point.

Robin turned back to her, "What do you think I want?" Robin pulled out a shiny object from her pocket, "I want you to get away from my family!" She pointed the shiny object at Carly.

Carly's heart started to beat as fast as it did when she almost fell off that cliff. "Robin, what are you talking about?! And why do you have a knife?! You could hurt somebody!" Carly shouted.

Robin grinned. "No, really!? I wanted do that unless I despised and hated somebody," she said innocently and continued to advance toward Carly, "Wait...hate...despise...sounds like my feelings for you. Maybe this knife is meant to hurt you," Robin said and looked at the knife, "Yeah that's got to be it."

Carly was back against the wall farthest from the front door. "You wouldn't hurt me," Carly bluffed. She knew Robin would.

"Why wouldn't I hurt you?" Robin asked.

"Because," Carly figured she must have lost it by now, "Your son and daughter. Marisa and Michael, they need you."

"Carly, I'm not crazy, you idiot! Just stressed out a little. Now kiss kids and you and my knife bonding experience." Robin had the a glint in her eye; she was barely a few centimenters from Carly.

     "Help!!!!" Carly screamed.

Carly's scream made Robin jump. Robin's whole body jumped, and when she looked over at Carly she noticed Carly's surprised look. Robin looked down and saw she had stabbed Carly. "Oh, my God," Robin whispered.

Carly fell to the ground with the knife still stuck deeply into her side. Robin wanted to scream just as Carly did but couldn't say anything. Carly looked at Robin, "Please don't let me die. Please..." Carly begged and trailed off.

Robin heard the door open and Jason walked in with a smile. His smile faded when he saw Carly. He ran to her side, "Carly." He looked down at Carly's side that was covered in blood, "Oh,baby." He looked down at the wound, "What she do to you?" Jason cried as he looked at Carly, whose eyes were closed. He looked back at Robin. "If she dies...you'll pay," Jason said and speed dialed the hospital.

**********

A.J. was in the hospital preparing some new equipment in the tiny gym. He finished up and was going to go home when the hospital doors burst open and he saw Jason, Robin, and Bobbie all with the emergency team. Bobbie was hysterical. "Carly!" she shouted, watching them take her daughter away into the hospital room. They told Bobbie that she couldn't come considering her connection with Carly. Jason and Bobbie hugged while Robin had blood all over her hands, shirt, face, and just all over her. Jason had blood on his shirt and hands. Bobbie, however, wasn't covered in the blood like Jason and Robin. Jason had tears streaming down his face. A.J. rushed to them. Jason was angered by him showing up, but when Bobbie saw him she hugged him. A.J. embraced Bobbie and ignored Jason's glare. "What happened?"

"I don't know. Jason just found her in the apartment," Bobbie said, wiping some of her tears away.

"Jase, what happened?" A.J. asked, letting Bobbie out of their hug.

"Carly was stabbed. She lost a lot of blood and Robin was right with her." Jason's words made both A.J. and Bobbie's eyes shoot over to Robin, who was sitting and rocking herself.

"What did you do to my daughter?! What did you do?!" Bobbie looked like she was going to jump on Robin and strangle her. Jason and A.J. held her back while Tagert and Mac approached.

"Well, I guess it's anger mama now," Tagert said in his sarcastic smile.

"Arrest her!" Bobbie calmed herself, and Jason along with A.J. let go of her.

Mac looked over to see Robin covered in Carly's blood. He of course didn't know it was Carly's at the time. "Robin!" he exclaimed and knelt before her, "What happened?"

"Uncle Mac," Robin said and grabbed onto him.

Bobbie made a surprised/disgusted face. "Oh yeah, I forgot the commissioner's daughter! She gets away with anything!" Bobbie yelled.

"Bobbie, calm down, ok?" Jason instructed.

Mac wiped away Robin's tears. "Tell me what happened."

"I stabbed her. I was so angry that Jason loved Carly instead of me and I stabbed her." Robin sobbed, "I'm sorry."

"You may never tell he," Bobbie chimed in. "Did you ever think about her family?! Her son? Her daughter? Her mother? Or how about the man you love? Did you ever think about us when you stabbed her!? How left alone we would be!" Bobbie shouted.

Jason put an arm around Bobbie and took her away from Robin before she killed her. A.J. wanted to go after them, but decided to go look into Carly's room instead. She looked really bad. She was really pale and there was still a lot of blood around. A.J. placed his hand on the window and whispered, "Carly."

**********

Mac hated doing it but arrested Robin. They would have to hold her until Carly decided whether or not she was going to press charges. And if Carly didn't make it, Robin would have a murder on her hands. Jason waited along with Bobbie. Jason couldn't help but think this was his fault. The woman he loved wouldn't be fighting for her life if it wasn't for him. Jason put his face in his hands and sighed. Bobbie had finished her crying. "Jason, she'll be ok. She has to be."

Jason looked over at Bobbie, resting his head on his hands. "I hope you're right."

"She's right." A.J. sat in front of them.

Bobbie nodded. "Jason, I'm going to get a cup of coffee. You want some?"

     "No, thanks," Jason replied.

     "Ok. You ,A.J.?"

"No, thanks, Bobbie," A.J. answered and Bobbie left.

"What are you doing here, A.J.?" Jason stood.

"I'm here for Carly," A.J. responded and stood up too.

"That's not good for her. This little fight you had planned was never. Carly and I are going to be together no matter what you think," Jason told A.J.

"I wasn't here to argue with you. But you better remember something," A.J. spoke into Jason's ear, "You're not the only one who's in love with her." And with that A.J. left. Jason sat back down trying to think about why he would fight with A.J. at a time like this. Maybe he just needed to take it out on somebody.

"Mr. Morgan?" The doctor called out.

"Yeah." Jason stood up again. "Is she ok?"

"She's fine. She lost a lot of blood, but besides that, she should be ok," The doctor assured him.

Jason told himself, ok, now you can breath again. "Can I see her?"

"Certainly." The doctor took Jason to Carly's room.

**********

A.J. stood outside the hospital doors. He knew it was a stupid choice to just let Carly run away from him. In a way, it was like she was running out of his life and he let her. A.J. couldn't think about that now or he'd go nuts. But he just kept picturing the way Carly ran away last night. She looked back at him once but just kept running away. He then saw her brought in with all that blood on her. Robin had stabbed her. The truth was that Jason and Carly's situation was enough to make anyone go nuts. A.J. remembered the day he found out Carly was pregnant again with one of Jason's children. Why couldn't he love somebody who wasn't interested in Jason before they were interested in him? Jason had always been the better one; no matter how bad he was, the girls seemed to love him. A.J. was determined not to let Carly slip away from him. Jason wasn't going to get the girl this time. "A.J.," he said, "You're going crazy. Jason's already won. He got the girl."

"Not entirely," someone said from behind him.

     A.J. spun around. "You!"

**********

Jason sat next to Carly's hospital bed, but Carly was still out. The doctor told him she was just resting and she'd be up in a little while; he just had to wait. Jason took her hand and put aside a strand of hair that was in her face. "Carly, you got me scared today. You know? Really scared. I mean hearing and seeing that I might lose you. Really scared. You're my life, you know. I can't--I don't want to live without you. You mean everything and I will die before anybody or anything can take you from me." He stood and kissed her forehead. "That's a promise."

"Jason." Carly coughed and slowly opened her eyes.

     Jason smiled. "Hey, you."

"Hey." Carly tried to sit up, but she made a pained face.

Jason sat on her bed with her. "Be careful. You were stabbed, you should try and rest."

"Stabbed? She did it?" Carly asked, holding Jason's hand.

"Yeah, she did. They arrested her and are waiting for you to press charges," Jason told her.

"They arrested her." Carly laughed a little. "And are waiting for me to press charges." She grinned. "What a crock."

"What do you mean?" Jason frowned.

"Oh come on, Jason. I'm supposed to let the courts let someone who hurt me go free with nothing but a slap on the wrist? No, thank you. It'll be worse than Tony. I mean she'll to testify to her character. I might even end up shooting her," Carly explained.

"Carly, no. We can both, I mean she confessed and--"

Carly cut him off. "So did Tony! He confessed and got off because some pricy laywer beat us. Wait until I'm completely drained again? No! I just want to go home to you and the kids and forget this."

"But Carly, you have to fight, you can't just give up."

"Jason, I just want to forget. I want to move on. Believe it or not, we can. You can let go if I can, right? So let it go."

"You'd really just let this go?" Jason questioned.

"Yes. I feel sorry for Robin. She has nothing she wants and I have everything I want."

Jason put a hand on either side of her bed and leaned over to her. "I love you."

"I love you too," Carly said and kissed him. "Now we can move on. Without Robin interfering."

**********

A.J. was completely surprised that out of all the people to even hint they wanted to help him get Carly, this person was standing in the doorway. "Bobbie?!"

"You say it so dramatically," Bobbie laughed.

"But you heard me and you said not entirely," A.J. repeated.

"Yes, I did. You're not the only one who doesn't want those two together," Bobbie stated and walked out to him. "Jason's not good enough for my daughter as far as I'm concerned, especially after this stunt he pulled with not showing up for his daughter's birth."

"You mean..you don't want them together?"

"I just don't think they make a good pair. I think you and Carly would work out much better. So if I can help, just say the word." Bobbie smiled.

     "Help," A.J. whined.

Bobbie turned back to him with a wicked grin. "You asked for it."
