Some Winter Haven Senior Softball Club members occasionally played against a group of ball players from the Kissimmee morning league.
The first doubleheader took place in Kissimmee on June 13, 2007. The Kissimmee team travelled to Winter Haven on August 15, 2007 for a doubleheader.
A team of Winter Haven Senior Softball Club members played a double header against players from the Solivita morning league at Winter Haven on October 11, 2007.

John Ormsby & Hugh Lessard played with the Dorchester Canadians 65 team. The team won the gold medal in the Midwest Championship in Champaign, Illinois that took place on July 9-11, 2007.

The Lakeshore-Nalcrest Friendship Tournament took place in Nalcrest on November 24, 2007. The Winter Haven Wonders, managed by Floyd Welton, placed third.

Brent Alumbaugh, the first player kneeling on the left, was a member of the Ottman Environmental Bobcats in 2007. The Bobcats were ranked ninth of all the Florida Half Century 50s tournament teams.
Three players from the WHSSC travelled with the Nalcrest team to Barefoot Bay for a doubleheader on January 9, 2008. Barefoot Bay is a community of 10,000 just a few miles north of Vero Beach. Pictured here are Don Bercaw, Bob Swartz, & Fred Dampier.

Wayne Mundy, kneeling third from right, played with the Port St. Lucie Ramblers during the SSUSA Tournament of Champions between February 15-17, 2008 in Mulberry. The team went 5-0 and won the 65s AAA division.
The third annual Canada vs USA game took place in Winter Haven on February 20, 2008. Team USA won 12-5.

Freddy Gonzalez set up Team Puerto Rico and played against a USA team put together by Russ King on April 9, 2008 at the DiamondPlex in Winter Haven. WHSSC Players on Team Puerto Rico included Frank Acevedo, Jose Agosto, Eddie Diaz, Hank Gomez, & Angel Merced. WHSSC players on Team USA were Al Andrews, Doug Chamlee, Bob Christiansen, Chuck Duff, Sam Harrell, Ed Kline, Jim Laffoon, Wayne Mundy, Denny Shaffer, Larry Williamson, Don Witmer, and Bob Zelazny. The USA team won 21-20.

Florida Half Century 70s team American Legion Post 8 won their division in the September 2008 tournament in Lakeland. Members of the WHSSC who are teammates on the tournament team are player/manager Joe Agosto and players Doug Chamlee, John Fulton, Sam Harrell, Wayne Mundy, Dick Sessink, Marvin Taylor, and Ron Thompson.
Floyd Welton was a member of the South Knoxville Cherokees, which won the silver medal in the Tennessee Olympic Games. The games took place in Franklin, Tennessee in July of 2008.
Eddie Diaz organized the Bad Boyz team & played at Nalcrest on October 11, 2008. The Bad Boyz won the doubleheader by scores of 12-8 and 17-2.

The honorable Mr. Ruben Diaz, father of Eddie Diaz, and Eddie's lovely wife Cielo Diaz cheered the Bad Boyz on to victory. Mr. Diaz pitched in the 1947 Pan Am Games and was a AAA pitcher in the Puerto Rico professional baseball league.
The Windham Elders played in the Massachusetts Bay State League in a 50 game schedule and also competed in several tournaments. The team picture is from a tournament in Cape Cod. WHSSC member Bill Ayer coached the team and was given a lamp signed by the team as appreciation for being their manager this year.
While playing in a game at Nalcrest in November of 2008, Ted Taylor got a hole-in-one. He hit a ball down the rightfield line & it was lost for three innings. Later in the game, Marion "Boz" Bozman found the ball deep in a gopher hole along the fence line. Boz is shown holding the ball up so it can be seen.
The Michigan Hitmen, a 60s tournament team out of Dearborn, Michigan, won their division in the 2008 Huntsman Games in Utah. Over 330 teams participated in all the age categories. WHSSC members included Joe D'Herin, Chuck Duff, Jim Laffoon, and Danny Parker.
Florida Half Century 70s team American Legion Post 8 won their division in the state tourney in December 2008 in Lakeland. The team played for the state 70s championship and was crowned runners up. The Florida Half Century 60s team Lake Wales Legends, managed by Kenny Duell, was crowned the state champions in the December 2008 tournament in Auburndale. Congratulations guys.
The Florida Half Century 50s team Road Ends Bullets won their division with a 4-0 record in the state tournament and went 1-1 in the championship games. The Bullets team was crowned runners up. Larry Powell is the manager. Congratulations guys.
Lakeland Angels shortstop Wayne Mundy was selected to participate in the East-West All Star game prior to the 2009 SSUSA Tournament of Champions. The All Star game was played in Auburndale on January 7, 2009. Wayne is the second player kneeling on the left in the team picture.
