The Winter Haven team managed by Dick Wilhelm defeated the Jack Williams Lakeland team 19-7.

The game began as a pitcher’s duel, since the score after four innings was 3-1 in favor of Winter Haven.  The local team came alive in the 5th with five runs.  Dick Wilhelm, Bill Ayer, Doug Chamlee, & Ken Wilson all had singles in the inning & Wayne Mundy finished off the frame with an RBI single.
Al Andrews & Ken Wilson hit inside-the-park homers.

Doug Chamlee went 4 for 4 with one double & Dick Wilhelm also went 4 for 4 in the game.  The Lakeland players were John Ormsby, who went 2 for 4 & Alan Walters, who went 1 for 4 with 1 double.

The Winter Haven team skippered by Fred Dampier defeated the Jose Agosto Lakeland team 22-21.

Lakeland took an early lead with four runs in the first frame while Winter Haven batted only four players & racked up a goose egg.  Lakeland scored another run in the next inning but Winter Haven answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame.  Cal Leigh, Cliff Hamilton, & Ray DePalma each had hits in the inning & Ron Thompson had a sacrifice fly.
The lead changed several times from the third inning on but Winter Haven always had the lead after each inning was complete & in the books.  The final lead was regained in the bottom of the 8th when Winter Haven scored three runs on hits by Fred Dampier, Cecil Vasquez, Tim Gallagher, Cal Leigh, & Cliff Hamilton.

Cliff Hamilton went 5 for 5 in the game & Fred Dampier went 4 for 5 with 1 double.  For the Lakeland team, Hugh Lessard went 4 for 5 with 1 double & 1 triple, manager Jose Agosto went 2 for 4, & Hal Ridley went 2 for 5.

The Winter Haven team piloted by Ron Augenstein won against the Don Schroeder Lakeland team by the score of 14-7.

Winter Haven jumped off to a quick start with three runs in the first frame on a hit by Freddy Gonzalez & a three run inside-the-park homer by Denny Shaffer.  Lakeland had put up one run to begin the game.  After that, Winter Haven pitcher Elmer Wilcox shut down the offense the rest of the game, with the exception of the explosive six run 7th inning.  Winter Haven rallied for a five spot in the 4th & 8th innings and coasted to a victory.

Denny Shaffer went 3 for 4 with 1 homer & Larry Williamson went 3 for 4.  Denny also played a superb leftfield, making a total of seven catches including one over-the-head running back catch.  On the Lakeland squad, Russ King went 0 for 2 with 1 walk & 1 sacrifice fly.
