In large bowl, beat butter, Crisco, 1 cup white sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add egg and orange peel, blend well.
Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Add alternately with orange juice to butter mixture. Stir in small chocolate chips.
Cover, refrigerate dough about one hour.
Heat oven to 350º
Shape dough into 1-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten by crisscrossing with fork. Bake 10 minutes until lightly browned.
Cool slightly. Remove from cookie sheet
