Preheat oven to 350º
Line bottom of cookie sheet with saltines, salty side up. Place butter and margarine in saucepan over low heat and stir until melted. Add the brown sugar and stir until well blended and sauce-like in consistency. Pour this syrup evenly over crackers, smoothing with wooden spoon.
Place in oven for 6-8 minutes (mixture will bubble on top of saltines and form a toffee layer underneath).
Remove cookie sheet from oven, realign the saltines with wooden spoon -they tend to get out line as they bubble. Pour chocolate chips evenly over saltines and put back in oven for 2 minutes to melt.
Remove from oven and quickly spread melted chips as if you were frosting a cake. Sprinkle evenly with nuts and place in freezer 10-15 minutes.
Remove from freezer and cut into squares. Cover and store in freezer
