Melt margarine in microwave for 1 minute. While it is still hot, add brown sugar, vanilla and eggs. Stir well.
Add flour, baking powder and salt and mix well. When it is smooth, add chocolate chips and half the coconut. Spread mixture in a 13 x 9 greased baking pan. Sprinkle remaining coconut on top.
Bake at 350 degree oven for about 40 minutes.
Cool on rack for 15 minutes. Cut into squares and allow to completely cool before dishing them up.
