Mix butter, flour, water and salt, (as for a pie crust). Let stand in cool place overnight till firm
Roll out dough in long strips. Cover half of strips with filling. Place remaining strips over filling. Seal ends. Brush tops with egg whites
Bake on sheet at 450º for 25 minutes
To make filling: Mix almond paste and sugar together with electric mixer until cornmeal. Mix eggs in, and add vanilla extract.
