Brazilian Coffee Cookies


Heat oven to 400º

Mix sugars, shortening, egg, milk and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten to 1/8-inch thickness with greased fork dipped in sugar (press only in one direction) or with greased bottom of glass dipped in sugar.

Bake until light brown, 7 to 8 minutes.

Makes about 3 and 1/2 dozen cookies
