Italian Chews
3/4 C soft margarine
2 T. sugar
1 2/3 C flour
3 egg yolks
2 1/4 C. packed brown sugar
1 C chopped walnuts
3/4 C flaked coconut
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
confectioners' sugar
Melt margarine, add sugar and beat until light.
Add flour; mix well.
Pat into ungreased 9x13 pan and bake at 375 for 15 minutes
Beat egg yolks. Gradually beat in brown sugar.
Add nuts and coconut. Fold in egg whites.
Spread on baked mixture.
Bake 25-30 minutes longer.
Cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar.
